I started exploring the scenery of Attica and Epirus in 2019 in search of the Greek sun and colours. I am following the process and the techniques of the impressionists, within the landscape and in front of my subject as it evolves, capturing the ephemeral nature of the atmosphere and the seasons, painting the light as I measure and feel it. As a resident of Athens, I don't see my work as a proposal to escape the modern city, but as a worry for the quality of life and the aesthetics that get isolated in places of natural beauty away from the urban environment. I chose oil paints for the way they reflect the light and elevate the pigments and for the volume they give to the brush strokes.
